Hope for the Earth celebration

In honor of Earth Day 2009, Providence's Hope Street merchants are holding a "Hope for the Earth" celebration on Sunday, April 26 from noon to 3:00 pm (the rain date is May 3).

Fresh Purls is getting into the act with a family craft activity outside, and a natural and recycled fiber sale inside. Two of the yarns that will be 15% off for the day are Rowan Milk Cotton (70% cotton 30% milk protein) and Queensland Collection Sugar Rush (100% Sugar Cane Viscose). Both these yarns are made from renewable sources. Sugar Rush (pictured left) comes from the stalks of the sugar cane plant. It produces a richly draped fabric with a subtle shine. The "milk" in Milk Cotton (right) is spun from milk proteins, offering an interesting alternative to our all-cotton summer yarns.

Outside our shop, the merchants association will have be unveiling the new trash barrels fabricated at the Steel Yard and entertainment will be provided by the Rolie Polie Guacamole Kids Band, along with many other activities. Join us, we'd love to see you there!
