Outbreak of Mad Cowl Disease at FP!

A lot of us have figured out that a cowl is a quick and satisfying knit (especially if you like knitting in the round) that is an always-welcome gift. Pick a vibrant multi-color yarn for an eye-catching result in super-simple stockinette. Just make it a soft yarn and no one will be able to resist slipping it over their heads on a cold day.

Becky did this ecru patterned cowl in a natural shade of cotton -- a good alternative for people who are sensitive to wool. The "Candle Flame Cowl" pattern is free on Ravelry (requires login).

Becky knit the multicolor Dolores Park cowl out of leftover Noro Iro yarn.

The little red rolled-edge cowl is knit out of Rowan Big Wool. Another advantage of cowls -- they're a great stash-buster.

The blue cowl with the tied neck was in Araucania Toconao merino. The pattern is for sale on Ravelry. Karen challenged herself to do the cables in this pattern without a cable needle. It turned out great -- stop by the shop if you want her to show you the technique.

Finally we have the Birthday Cowl in blue worsted-weight Malabrigo.
