Meeting the designers

While Karen and Amanda were in Seattle for Yarn Market, some of the local shops were holding trunk shows and book signings.

At The Fiber Gallery they met Terri Shea, author of Selbuvotter Biography of a Knitting Tradition. Her book thoroughly explores the roots of Selbu Knitting -- a tradition of intricately patterned black-and-white designs from Norway. Terri brought a table of full of sample mittens--Wow!

Another treat was meeting Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton, who is the head designer for Noro yarns. They were fortunate to meet her as Hamilton now lives in Mariefred, Sweden, full time, where she has a yarn store and does freelance designing in addition to her work for Noro.

  1. What is Karen wearing in the last pic? I like it! Pattern? Yarn?

  2. Hi! This is from Rowan Magazine #44 and the pattern is Cellini. The yarn is Rowan's Felted Tweed. Sherry, an employee of Fresh Purls, did a fantastic job knitting this sweater and was kind enough to let me borrow it for my trip to Seattle!
