Teleidoscope class

A group has been meeting on Thursday nights to learn how to make Helen's Cosmic Teleidoscope Vest, a swirl of of multicolored sock yarns with arm openings, inspired by Elizabeth Zimmerman's PII shawl. Each picked her own favorite colored yarns: Shibui, Claudia Handpaints and Koigu.

Cheryl likes reds and blues. She started on size 4 double points, but now has 500+ stitches crowded on a circular needle. "I thought it was going to be more difficult than it turned out to be" she comments. "Helen is a wonderful teacher and the pattern is very well-written."

Part of the pleasure of knitting the pattern is seeing how the colors develop and interact -- the effect is impossible to predict.

Marilyn chose blue and green shades for her vest. She notes that as the project grows on circular needles people think she's knitting a "Rastafarian hat."
