4th Annual Rhode Island Wool & Fiber Festival

On Saturday, May 15th, several of us attended the 4th Annual Rhode Island Wool & Fiber Festival. The festival was held at Coggeshall Farm in Bristol, RI and it could not have been a nicer day!

There were many tents filled with fibers and so many beautiful colors. There were beautiful bags, buttons and demonstrations of spinning, sheep shearing, and many other fiber related activities.

Karen took the pictures and had dallied a bit on Saturday so by the time she arrived - sheep were in their barn and refused to come out for a photo op! The "baaaaed" and seemed to be active, but didn't come out so that is why our animal pictures have no sheep - they were heard but not seen! Of course the fruits of their beautiful wool was there in full force!

There were two baby alpacas and just too cute for words and absolutely irresistible!

The charming mama goat has 2 kids - her name is Heidi and she was such a sweetie - of

course that may have been because she thought the camera might be a good snack - she decided a nice photo worked out better!

We also got to meet some Angora Bunnies, the little guy here had no name, the owner told us that if she named the bunnies - she wouldn't be able to sell them, she'd have to keep them - these rabbits are so very sweet and look at all that wonderful fur!!!!

The day was sunny and warm with a nice breeze, it was not too hot or too cold - just a perfect day. If you didn't get a chance to visit the festival this year, make sure you plan on going next year.

We believe it will continue to grow and the festival supports the farm museum - a piece of living history, a fun day - and also some great homemade lemonade and kettle corn. So yarn, great people, and great weather, you couldn't ask for more!
