What's On Our Needles: July 1

Another week, another batch of projects going on here at Fresh Purls! Here is what we’re working on this week…

Karen has been busy with the needles, just not the knitting needles. She is sewing up a storm! So far this week she’s brought in four of the fabric project bags we sell, a tote bag that is really pretty and good for a large project (pictured left), and a smaller project bag that Becky is seriously tempted to buy. Karen also squeezed in making a cute wristlet camera case for Becky’s camera. Phew!

Sherry started the Blue Sky Alpaca Brushed Suri Wrap in a stunning turquoise. It’s beautiful even though it's only 1/4 done! It looked like the kind of thing that she’ll be working on when it’s cool outside or the AC is cranked. The yarn is 67% baby suri (which is kind of like an alpaca), 22% merino, and 11% bamboo. When finished this wrap is going to be one of those garments that people want to pet and touch when she’s wearing it.

Becky has made significant progress on the Vogue Knitting Lace Wrap. The stitch definition is divine in the Manos Silk Blend. She thinks she’s going to be able to do the whole wrap with 5 skeins of the main color and 1 of the contrast color. The pattern is charted rather than written out and was easily memorized. Come on cooler weather! Becky is going to want to wear this one as soon as it’s done. She just might have to hit the movie theater where it’s always freezing as an excuse to wear it out.

Helen is away on vacation on Florida this week. We hope she’s enjoying her time with family, but suspect she isn’t getting a whole lot of knitting done!
