New workshop, classes & more

It's time to sign up for Spring classes! See our line up of classes on the Fresh Purls website here.

First up, we have a Moebius workshop scheduled for March 7 from noon-2:00. Participants will be making a moebius basket to be felted. The cost is $25. Bring your own size 11 47-inch circular needles and worsted-weight felting yarn (suggestion: one skein of Manos 100% wool); or you can purchase needles and yarn on the day of the class (there is a 10% discount).

Next Steps is a 2-week class for knitters who have learned the basics and want to add new techniques and skills to their knitting repertoire. Bring your next challenge to the first class, or work with the instructor to decide what to tackle. Cables, lace, Fair Isle, intarsia, _____? Whatever your current skill level, this class will help you step up your game, and have the confidence to take on new challenges. There are three two-week sessions scheduled; sign up for one or more sessions. Sessions are held at 6:30 pm on April 2 & 9, April 16 & 23, and April 30 & May 7. The cost is $30 per session. There is a 10% discount on all supplies purchased for the class.

FREE knitting opportunity: Needed Knits is back! Last year we knitted almost a hundred warm hats that were distributed to the needy through the Women's Center in Providence and a soup kitchen on Aquidneck Island. This year, we'll be knitting security blankets for children. You can knit a whole blanket or just a square. Donated yarn and patterns will be provided; you bring your needles and your willingness to help a child in need. Needed Knits 2009 will be kicking off on Tuesday, March 3, between 4:30-6:00, and will be held every Tuesday thereafter at the same time.
