Make a bird happy, and other items

At the upcoming "Hope for the Earth" Festival sponsored by the Hope Street Merchants Association, Sunday, April 26 noon-3:00, Fresh Purls will be showing kids how to make bird's nests using twigs, leaves, pine needles and yarn! If you put the nests in a tree, birds may use them for a home, or pick them apart for building materials to be used elsewhere. Either way, they won't go to waste!

Inside the shop, we'll have a host of plant-based yarns on sale at 15% off for the day (check your Fresh Purls newsletter for a coupon). There are lots of other events planned, so don't miss it! The weather forecast is for a mind-boggling 80° and sunny -- you don't want to be stuck inside on such a glorious day.

In other news...

We have the Spring/Summer issue of Vogue Knitting in the store. They're showing pattern sets under the headings "The New Naturals," "Easy Glitz" and "The Sensual Side of Pink." And if you haven't checked out Vogue Knitting's website recently, it's worth a fresh look. VK360°, sponsored by Tahki/Stacy Charles shows all the pattern sample garments in 360° video, with close ups of the stitches. See the Spring/Summer patterns in detail here. It's great to be able to see every sample garment from every angle!

And finally, our own Karen is profiled in last week's issue of Providence Business News in their "Main Street" column. If you are a subscriber, you can read the interview online here. There are some copies floating around the shop as well. Congratulations, Karen, on this well-deserved acknowledgment!
