We had a wonderful kickoff to the coming knitting season at Christmas in July...oops August last Monday. It was a hot afternoon, and
Amanda and
Sherry got a free sauna experience with cash register duty, but our many friends turned out in force to browse the free patterns, pick over yarn and catch up with our lives.
Amanda's Cabled Shoulder Bag was much admired, as was
Karen's Ponchette and
Helen's Summer Shawl in Comfort. Probably the most ooh-ing and ah-ing was done over
Sherry's just-completed
Stella cable-and-lace jacket out of
French Girl Knits, a technical masterpiece in a rich lavender merino with a filament of
Superior cashmere and silk in a matching shade, held double. In spite of the staggering heat, lots of people tried this sweater on, and few wanted to take it off. Bravo,
Sherry!
Old friends turned up whom we hadn't seen in a while so it was great opportunity to catch up.
Alicia and
Cyrena were there;
Alicia sporting some very handsome socks knit from Noro
Silk Garden Sock.

A great, big THANK YOU to all who came, from your friends at Fresh Purls!
